In my lush city known as Moreno Valley, the population receives a the majority of their water from the Colorado River and 30% comes from groundwater.Since Moreno Valley and Riverside are essentially the same city with different names, I looked up the Riverside water quality reports, and the water passed federal and state standards and is safe for drinking. There are two different agencies responsible for making sure water is safe for consumption. The FDA monitors bottled water and the EPA regulates tap water. Bottled water is not as closely monitored and often it has been found that the water isn't even filtered or cleaned because I guess poisoning your fellow countrymen and your own water supply is cheap and makes for more profit. The EPA has a better track record and reports to the general public if any contaminants are in the water. As usual the FDA has an agenda, and lobbyist have a way of swaying those inspectors.
Concerning water bottles, they are becoming an environmental risk, because we as humans seem to want to use the least biodegradable substance on Earth the most. Since water bottles don't degrade, they pretty much just stay on Earth forever and don't break down. Also bottled water isn't even as filtered or clean as we think, that should be a given since corporations are run by sociopaths. Often times you may find yourself not even drinking all of the water and throwing it away, how is the water suppose to get out? Water bottles are a convenient quick fix to thirst with long term effects. I gotta lay of the Gatorade.
